New Delhi. On Nepal's request, India is preparing to send a tunnel rescue team. For this, first of all a RECI team is being sent, which will take stock of the ground situation and find out what kind of equipment will be required. This information was given by Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. He told that we are also sending a medical team to Nepal. Apart from this, we have also proposed to provide Bailey bridges and their associated technical teams, so that connectivity can be restored in the affected areas of Nepal as soon as possible. We have also made a special offer to the Nepalese authorities to send NDRF teams and associated equipment to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations and provide relief to the people affected by this tragedy. We are waiting for the response of Nepal government in this matter. We are ready to provide whatever help the Nepalese authorities require.

MEA spokesperson informed that we have 400 Indian citizens in China and they are completely safe and are in touch with their families, they are talking to their families. Our embassy is in touch with their team leaders and travel agents. Our MEA control room is working round the clock, just like the control rooms of our embassies in Kathmandu and Beijing. Jaiswal said that 21 Indian citizens who had reached Kathmandu from the flood affected area of Nepal, have reached Delhi today. These 21 Indian citizens are residents of Tamil Nadu and have come by Indigo flight. Apart from these 21 Indian citizens, the 63 Indian citizens working in Trishuli-1 Hydro Power Project about whom I had informed you were also evacuated safely on Thursday.

While giving information about the help being sent by India to Nepal, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India had started humanitarian assistance efforts on the very day of the tragedy. India's first flight departed on the evening of 26 August carrying 10 tonnes of relief material, including temporary shelter, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps and medicines. Subsequently, on August 27, at around 10:30 am, the second ship left. It contained 37.5 tonnes of relief material, which included tents, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps, dewatering pumps, kitchen sets, gensets, medicines and food items. India is going to leave another ship very soon with relief material.
