Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday claimed that the alleged excesses of the BJP government will pave the way for the Trinamool Congress to return to power in the coming days. He said that Trinamool Congress will come to power again in West Bengal very soon.
Mamata Banerjee said this while addressing a gathering organized during the foundation day celebrations of Trinamool Congress' student organization Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) in central Kolkata.
He alleged that the BJP misused the Election Commission to influence the elections and misused the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to 'loot votes' by removing lakhs of names from the voter list. However, the reaction of BJP and Election Commission on these allegations has not been revealed.
Mamata Banerjee also raised the issue of eviction of street vendors in Kolkata. He said that if the state government cannot rehabilitate the evicted hawkers then they should be given a compensation of Rs 25,000 every month.
Accusation of political pressure on police
Mamata Banerjee also accused the BJP of using the police for political vendetta. He said that the police is not allowing Trinamool Congress to organize meetings and rallies. She said that she will soon visit the districts and organize political programs. If the police does not give permission then they will organize the program with the permission of the public.
She said that now she will not seek permission from the Calcutta High Court for political programs and will not waste the court's time. Mamta said that if needed, she will even walk miles to reach the people.
Abhishek Banerjee targeted the rebel group
Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee also addressed the program. He targeted the 'rebel but majority' faction led by expelled Trinamool Congress MLA Ritabrata Banerjee and former Trinamool MPs who recently joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCPI).
Describing these leaders as 'traitors', Abhishek Banerjee said that he will urge the party's supreme leader Mamata Banerjee not to take such people back into the Trinamool Congress in future. He also targeted the BJP and the state administration over the removal of the billboard from the party office on Camac Street in central Kolkata. He alleged that the party was being targeted for political reasons.
