Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the Order of Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik, Uzbekistan’s highest state honour, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his two‑day state visit.
The award recognises the deep and enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan, now elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Expressing gratitude, Modi dedicated the honour to the people of India, highlighting the shared heritage and spirit of “Dostlik” (friendship). He said, “This honour does not belong to just one individual; it belongs to 1.4 billion people of India.”
The Prime Minister praised President Mirziyoyev’s leadership, noting that bilateral ties have consistently scaled new heights. He emphasised India’s commitment to working with Uzbekistan for the welfare of the Global South and humanity.
The award has previously been conferred on leaders including Kazakhstan President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and UN Secretary‑General António Guterres.
