India beat Sri Lanka 1-0 in the two-match Test series. India defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first match of the series played at Galle. So, the second Test match played in Colombo remained a draw. With just two days to go before the Sri Lanka series, the BCCI has invited all its star players to the 'Centre of Excellence' for a fitness test. For the last two-three years, Team India has suffered a lot due to the injuries of the players. So there is a big challenge in front of BCCI as well.

BCCI order to star players of Team India
After the Sri Lanka tour, BCCI has called its star players for a fitness test. Seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal along with T20 captain Shreyas Iyer, T20 specialists Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson and Chennai Super Kings captain Rituraj Gaikwad were seen sweating it out in the BCCI fitness test.
What are fitness tests?
The fitness test includes cricket-related exercises like bronco test, 2-km run, yo-yo test and running between the wickets. In the Bronco test, cones are placed at the starting point (0 m), 20 m, 40 m and 60 m. Athletes have to run from 0 to 20 meters and back, then 40 meters and 60 meters in five sets without stopping. A total distance of 1200 meters has to be covered in 5 minutes and 30 seconds. The yo-yo test standard is 16.5, while a 2-kilometer run (2000 m) has to be completed within 10 minutes. In addition, cricket-specific forms of practice such as yo-yo tests and sprinting between wickets are also taken up.

The players who had to undergo the mandated fitness arrived in batches and completed their respective tests ahead of a busy season.

Siraj and Krishna got exemption
Mohammed Siraj and famous Krishna have been exempted from this fitness test. The team wants to give him some rest for now. BCCI will continue to conduct these fitness tests from time to time till the start of IPL 2027. However, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy will participate in this fitness test only after they are declared fully fit.
The new series will start in September
The new domestic season of the Indian cricket team will begin in September. According to BCCI's new schedule, India will first play a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi. Immediately after this, two different Indian cricket teams will take to the field. The main T20 team will leave for Japan to participate in the Asian Games, while the other team will play an ODI and T20I series against the West Indies at home.
