Patna. Amidst the preparations for Panchayat elections in Bihar, the process of fresh delimitation of Gram Panchayats has intensified. The State Election Commission has started work towards demarcating the boundaries of Panchayats and Panchayat Territorial Constituencies based on the 2011 Census data.
Important work will have to be completed by September 10
The details of Enumeration Block (EB) boundaries are being entered on the special mobile app for delimitation. The concerned officers and personnel have been instructed to complete this process by September 10.
Limits will be recorded on mobile app
Information related to the nine directions of each area will be recorded through a special app. This will include the positions of North, South, East, West along with North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West and Centre.
Focus on population and area
During the new delimitation, efforts will be made to ensure balanced distribution of population and geographical area in Gram Panchayats and Panchayat constituencies. For this, 2011 census data and available maps will be used.
The State Election Commission has already given training to the officials and now preparations are going on in the districts to complete this work in a time bound manner. After the completion of the delimitation process, changes may be seen in the boundaries of many Gram Panchayats and Panchayat constituencies of Bihar, which will be an important step in the preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections.
