New Delhi. Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's 28-year-old niece Brishti Mukherjee has died under suspicious circumstances. His body was found hanging in his house in Kusumba village of Rampurhat in Birbhum district. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigating the case. Prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide. Brishti Mukherjee was the daughter of Mamata's cousin Nihar Mukherjee. Brishti's name had come up in the West Bengal primary teacher recruitment scam case. He was accused of getting the job illegally. Later he lost his job.

Even in her personal life, Brishti was going through a very stressful environment. She was facing a divorce case from her husband. It is being told that due to all these reasons, Brishti was in depression for the last four-five years. He was also undergoing treatment. The cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report comes. The forensic team also reached the spot and collected evidence. Police are taking information from family members regarding this incident.

Let us tell you that the appointment of about 26000 primary teachers and non-teaching staff in West Bengal was canceled by the Calcutta High Court. Later the Supreme Court also upheld the decision of the Calcutta High Court. Actually, this action was taken because there were allegations of appointments being made through money and nepotism. These allegations were found to be true during investigation. Due to this, Brishti Mukherjee also lost her job. Brishti was a Group C employee. The then Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and many other people were also arrested in this case.
