Within a week of the release of Kannada superstar Yash's much-awaited film 'Toxic', the box office performance has slowed down. This film had taken a big opening of Rs 101.10 crore on the first day and broke the records of big films like 'Jawaan' and 'Pathan', but since then its collections are showing a continuous decline. After the huge success of 'KGF: Chapter 2', the audience had high expectations from Yash's comeback after almost four years, but the film is not able to perform at that level at the moment.
According to a report by 'Sacknilk', 'Toxic' collected a net collection of only Rs 5.10 crore on the eighth day (Wednesday), which is its lowest daily collection till date. Earlier, the film had earned Rs 7.85 crore on the seventh day and Rs 7.65 crore on the sixth day. Accordingly, the total net collection of the film so far in India has been estimated at Rs 234.70 crore. While the worldwide box office collection is said to be around Rs 322 crore. This continuous decline in business after the initial strong performance has become a matter of concern for the film.
There was a lot of buzz about 'Toxic' before its release and it was expected that the film would break the record of Rs 1,361 crore made by Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. However, at the current pace, it seems difficult for the film to even meet its budget (estimated cost) of Rs 500 crore. Apart from this, competition with new films at the box office has also intensified. Dulquer Salmaan's 'I Am Game' has already released, while Ali Fazal's 'Mirzapur: The Movie' is scheduled to release on September 4. In such a situation, it will not be easy for 'Toxic' to maintain its place in the coming days.
