SBI ATM Rule Change: An important update has come out for those who use ATM to withdraw money from their bank account. If you have an account with State Bank of India (SBI), from October 1, 2026, ATM related charges and free transaction limits in some accounts may affect your spending. Especially those customers who use ATM several times a month, they must be aware of this change.
How many times a month will you be able to withdraw money from ATM without charges?
Withdrawal facility up to four times a month will be free for SBI’s Basic Savings Bank Deposit i.e. BSBD account holders. After reaching this limit, additional charges will have to be paid for withdrawing cash from the ATM again.
On every additional cash transaction after four free withdrawals Rs 15 and GST Will have to give. This means that the burden of fees on the customer may start from the fifth withdrawal in the month.
Problems may increase for those withdrawing small amounts of money repeatedly (SBI ATM Rule Change)
If a customer withdraws small amounts from the ATM multiple times as per his need, his free limit may get exhausted quickly. In such a situation, charges will be added on withdrawals made in the remaining days of the month. Therefore, before withdrawing money from the ATM, it would be wise to check how many free withdrawals have already been made that month.
Rules will change for salary account holders also
SBI salary account customers will also have to keep in mind the new limit on ATM transactions from October 1. Free monthly facility available through debit card on ATM and ADWM i.e. Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machine of other banks. Reduction from 10 to 5 transactions Will be done.
This means that now such customers will be able to avail this free limit only for five transactions in a month. Prescribed charges will be applicable on transactions made after crossing the limit.

It is not just a matter of withdrawing cash here. Both financial and non-financial ATM usage is included in the five transaction limit for salary accounts. Therefore, apart from withdrawing cash from ATM Checking balance or getting mini statement May also affect the number of free transactions.
How much will be charged when the free limit is exhausted?

SBI customers should do this work before October

BSBD account holders will have to keep in mind the charges that will be levied after completion of four free withdrawals of the month. In this way, unnecessary ATM charges can be avoided by taking a little care.
