New Delhi/Guwahati: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has achieved great success in the ongoing action against drug trafficking. In the case of smuggling of 2.146 kg of methamphetamine pills caught in Khanapada area of Guwahati in the year 2020, the court has convicted three accused and sentenced them to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment.
15 years rigorous imprisonment
Shakeel Khan, resident of Lilong, Thoubal, Manipur, Yahiya Khan, resident of Iribung, Imphal East, Manipur and Mithilesh Kumar, resident of Buranath, Bhagalpur, Bihar were convicted by the Special NDPS Court, Guwahati in the case. All three were sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment in a drug trafficking case.
A huge cache of drugs was caught in Khanapada
This matter is of October 2020. During the NCB operation, 2.146 kg of methamphetamine tablets were recovered in Khanapada area of Guwahati, Assam. After the recovery, the investigation of the case proceeded and all three accused were arrested. After a long legal process, the court has now found all three guilty and sentenced them. This decision is being considered as a strong message for the people involved in drug trade. The investigating agency says that action will continue to tighten the noose on the drug trafficking network.
Report intoxication, identity will remain secret
NCB has also appealed to the general public that if they get any information related to drug trafficking or sale, then inform it on the toll-free number 1933 of Manas helpline. According to the agency, the identity of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential.
