Automobile Desk: Tata Motors is preparing to introduce its most favorite and popular sub-compact SUV Nexon in a completely new avatar. The company can launch this new generation Nexon which is coming to create a stir in the Indian automobile market by 2027. According to media reports and on-road testing pictures, Tata Motors is developing it internally under the codename 'Garud'. This time there will be not only cosmetic changes in Nexon, but there will be a major change in its architecture, safety and features.
New platform and futuristic architecture
The most important and significant change in the new generation Tata Nexon will be seen in its base i.e. platform. The 2027 Nexon is being built on the company's advanced ATLAS (Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform. This is the same modern platform that has recently been used in the Tata Curvv. This architecture is so versatile that it can easily fit a variety of body styles and powertrains. Along with this, it has been designed keeping in mind the new technology, cloud connectivity and future electric needs, which will greatly improve the stability and ride quality of the vehicle.

Aggressive look and new exterior design
Leaked pictures of the testing model make it clear that the classic and bold SUV stance of the Nexon will remain intact, but the newness will be visible in its front and rear parts. The front of the car will be given a completely new bumper, new style grill and modern LED headlamp cluster. New sporty alloy wheels and slightly sloping roofline will be seen in the side profile. There is a possibility of new tailgate, new rear windshield and connected LED tail lamps in the rear profile. This new design will give Nexon a very different and premium road presence from the current model.
Features like premium cabin and Level-2 ADAS
As soon as you enter the car, you will find a completely redesigned modern cabin. The dashboard has been redesigned, which will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital cluster for the driver. Keeping in mind the comfort and convenience, it is expected to have features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera and rear AC vents. In terms of safety, the biggest upgrade could come in the form of 'Level 2 ADAS' (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which will make the drive extremely safe.
Option of engine, gearbox and CNG
Despite major changes in design and features, Tata will continue to maintain reliable options on the powertrain front. The new Nexon will continue to be offered with the existing 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines, with both manual and automatic transmission options. Apart from this, underbody CNG tank technology can be found in eCNG variant, due to which there will be no compromise in boot space. This CNG model can give an excellent mileage of up to 24 km/kg.
price and market competition
The ex-showroom price of the current Nexon starts from Rs 7.40 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.40 lakh. Due to the new platform, ADAS and new features, there may be a slight increase in the price of the 2027 model. As soon as it comes in the market, it will compete directly with popular vehicles like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kaylak.
