On this special occasion, his son and famous filmmaker Karan Johar remembered him emotionally. Karan shared some old pictures of his father on social media and wrote a long note remembering the beautiful moments spent with him. In this post, while Karan narrated the story of his father's humorous style, he also shared a very emotional memory of his last days.
Remembered father with childhood photos
Karan Johar shared his childhood pictures with Yash Johar on Instagram. He started the post with very emotional words. Karan wrote that he misses his father every day. After this, she shared many memories related to her life and her relationship with Yash Johar with the fans.

'Not Burberry… it is very bad', narrated the story of the jacket man
Karan shared a funny incident after the release of his film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. He told that after the success of the film, he had decided to buy his first designer jacket to celebrate. He reached the Burberry store and bought the jacket that fit him.
Karan thought he looked great in the jacket. But when he showed the jacket to his father, Yash Johar looked at him and asked what he was wearing. Karan proudly said that this is barbaric.
After this, Yash Johar jokingly said in Punjabi style, “Son, this is not barbaric… it is very bad.” Karan told that at first he was shocked by his father's words, but the next moment he started laughing loudly. According to Karan, his father was a very down to earth, simple and funny person.
Yash Johar dreamed of making his son a hero
Karan told that his father was his biggest fan. Yash Johar always encouraged him and said many times that he should become a hero. Karan recalled that his father used to tell him that he was so handsome that he should become a hero and learn horse riding.
Recalling this in a humorous manner, Karan wrote that can anyone imagine him riding a horse on Juhu beach or as a mainstream hero.
At the same time, Karan's mother Hiroo Johar used to give him more practical advice and explained to him that he was not made to appear in front of the camera.
Father gave the biggest lesson of life in his last days
Karan Johar shared the most emotional part of the post remembering his father's last days. He told that after a session of chemotherapy, Yash Johar had told him that he felt that he would not be able to live much longer.
Yash Johar had asked Karan to make a promise that he will always be kind. He told his son that if there is no kindness in a person then there is no meaning of success. He also asked Karan to take care of his mother in the same way as he had taken care of throughout his life.
Karan told that he had promised him to take care of his mother while his father was on ventilator.
'Papa was my hero'
Karan described his father as his hero, not just a successful filmmaker or producer. He wrote that Yash Johar's kindness, humility and simplicity impressed him a lot.
Karan also said that even after 22 years of his father's departure, the void created in his life remains the same. He wrote that he does not want to fill that void and will never be able to fill it.
According to Karan, when someone loses his parents he finds a God. He said that for him his father is the same God and he prays to him every day. At the end of the post, Karan once again wrote that he misses his father every day.
Yash Johar had laid the foundation of Dharma Productions
Yash Johar founded Dharma Productions in 1976 and made his mark as a producer in Hindi cinema. He produced films like 'Dostana', 'Duniya', 'Agneepath', 'Gumrah', 'Duplicate', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'.
'Kal Ho Na Ho' was included in his last films. Yash Johar died on 26 June 2004 at the age of 74. After his death, Karan Johar took over the responsibility of Dharma Productions and created his own identity in the film industry.
