Government oil marketing companies (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL) have updated the latest retail prices of petrol and diesel across the country at 6 am today. Amid the ongoing fluctuations in crude oil prices in the international market, there has been no major change in the prices of petrol and diesel in major cities, giving relief to the general public at the domestic level.
Fuel rates vary from city to city depending on the local VAT, cess and freight costs imposed in the states. In the national capital Delhi, petrol remains at Rs 102.12 and diesel at Rs 95.20 per liter.

Under the dynamic fuel pricing system implemented in India since June 2017, the base price is decided every day at 6 am based on the international benchmark and the dollar-rupee exchange rate.
On top of this, excise duty of the central government, dealer commission and VAT of the state governments are added. In states where VAT rates are high (like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra), petrol prices are crossing Rs 110 per litre, while in relatively lower tax areas, prices remain low.
