Why is Mayawati betting on Ishaan Anand and not Akash Anand?

Once again a major organizational change has taken place in the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). BSP supremo Mayawati has appointed her younger nephew and Akash Anand's younger brother Ishaan Anand as the main sector in-charge of the party. Ishaan has been given the responsibility of monitoring and reviewing the functioning of the organization in about 15 states. After this decision, discussions have intensified regarding the role of Akash Anand and the growing stature of Ishaan in BSP politics.

Ishan Anand will now review the organizational functioning of BSP in about 15 states. He has been given the responsibility of monitoring the activities of the party, the status of the organization and matters related to the workers in these states. It has been told that Ishaan will give the report related to his responsibilities to his father and BSP National Vice President Anand Kumar. This decision of the party is being seen as increasing Ishaan's active role in the organization.

After Akash Anand, responsibility goes to Ishaan

Ishaan Anand has got this important responsibility at a time when continuous changes are being seen in BSP regarding his elder brother Akash Anand. Mayawati had last week withdrawn the post of Chief National Coordinator from Akash Anand. Mayawati had taken this decision calling him politically immature. Earlier in March, Akash Anand was expelled from the party. He returned to BSP after about a month and in May he was again given the responsibility of Chief National Coordinator.

Is Mayawati taking the new generation forward?

After Ishan Anand was given the responsibility of 15 states, discussion has started regarding the role of the new generation within BSP. In political circles, this is also being seen as an attempt to strengthen the party's organization and bring forward youth leadership. However, no final decision has been officially confirmed yet on the ongoing discussions regarding the expulsion of Akash Anand from the party. There is speculation in media reports about his expulsion again.

Mayawati's strict stance regarding Ashok Siddharth

Mayawati has already taken a tough decision regarding Akash Anand's father-in-law and BSP leader Ashok Siddharth. He has been thrown out of the party again. Mayawati has clarified that BSP's doors are closed for Ashok Siddharth. In such a situation, giving big organizational responsibility to Ishan Anand is being seen as an important change in the current strategy of BSP. In the coming days, it will be important to see what kind of role Ishaan plays in the party organization after getting the responsibility of 15 states and what is the political position of Akash Anand.
