New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public service, party national president Nitin Nabin announced on Wednesday. Addressing the media at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Nabin said October 7, 2026, will mark 25 years since Modi began his public service journey after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001.
“Today, we have gathered here to discuss the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. On October 7, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will complete 25 years of public service, a journey that began when he assumed office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001,” Nabin said.
He said Modi had remained committed to the principle of public service and gradually expanded his focus from serving people to serving the nation.
Highlighting what he described as the transformation of India’s economic and political landscape under Modi, the BJP chief said the country was facing “policy paralysis” when the Prime Minister took charge at the Centre and was then described as one of the “Fragile Five” economies.
“Today, India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world,” Nabin said, while asserting that the country’s stature and standing globally had also increased significantly under the Modi government.
Nabin said the government since 2014 had sought to replace a sense of despair among India’s youth with hope and optimism. Pointing to the country’s startup ecosystem, he said India had emerged as the world’s third-largest startup nation, with young people increasingly becoming job creators rather than merely job seekers.
“Through startups and unicorns, India has today become the third-largest startup nation in the world. In startups and unicorns, our youth have come forward and emerged as job givers and not just job seekers,” he said.
He also cited initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India, saying India’s youth were increasingly making their presence felt across different fields. Further, on women-led development, Nabin highlighted the government’s initiatives from Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao to the Lakhpati Didi programme. He also referred to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, saying efforts were continuing to strengthen women’s empowerment and participation in policymaking.
The BJP president also highlighted the government’s approach towards villages located along India’s international borders. He said such settlements, which were traditionally described as the country’s “last villages”, were now being projected as India’s “first villages”.
“There was a time when border villages were called India’s last villages. They changed this perception and started calling them India’s first villages. This has not only brought changes in the lives of ordinary people, but has also altered people’s outlook towards these communities,” Nabin said.
The month-long campaign will begin on September 17, which the BJP observes as ‘Seva Diwas’ to mark Modi’s birthday. Nabin said the campaign would open with a blood donation drive, while the party would also organise the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programme on September 17. A cleanliness drive will be organised on October 2 as part of the campaign.
The inaugural programme, titled “Ashirbadar Banti” (Lamp of Blessings), will be held on September 17.
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde has been appointed the National Convener for the campaign. A seven-member team comprising a minister, an organisational general secretary and five senior leaders will be constituted in each state to coordinate and oversee the programmes.
As part of the campaign, the BJP will organise photo and digital exhibitions documenting Modi’s 25-year political journey, including his governance record, development initiatives and welfare programmes.
The party will also hold seminars and intellectual forums focusing on good governance, development and Antyodaya, besides organising interactive programmes involving youth and other sections of society.
Special camps will also be organised to create awareness about welfare schemes of the Central and state governments and help people understand the benefits and entitlements available under various programmes.
The BJP’s month-long campaign is expected to combine outreach activities, public service initiatives and organisational programmes to mark Modi’s 25-year journey in public life and showcase the party’s narrative around governance, development and welfare.
