Digital Desk, Busted. The action of removing the Hanuman temple standing in the middle of road widening in Ujjain has now reached the scrutiny of experts. The administration removed the structure of the temple, but the Hanuman statue installed here could not be removed from its place despite several efforts. After trying with machines for about ten days, now the help of experts from IIT Indore is being taken.

On Tuesday, the IIT Indore team reached the spot and examined the statue and its surrounding areas for about two hours. The team tried to understand the position of the statue inside the ground, its depth and the surrounding structure through special technical equipment. After completion of investigation the experts will submit the report. Based on this report the administration will decide further action.
The matter is not limited to just administrative action. There is deep faith in this statue among the local devotees. Many people call Khade Hanuman as 'Doctor Hanuman', while the temple is even called 'AIIMS of Ujjain'. It is believed that by praying here, the wishes of sick people and children are fulfilled. Devotees are linking the statue not moving with this faith.
The temple came within the reach of the road
In view of the preparations for Simhastha, the work of expanding the road from Kanthal intersection to Gopal temple is going on. The proposed road is being widened by about 15 meters and the Hanuman temple standing in the same construction area was also coming up.

When the Municipal Corporation team arrived with machines and cutters to remove the statue, the devotees started protesting. He said that using machines in a hurry could cause damage to the statue. After this, barricading was also done around the temple. The devotees had submitted a memorandum to the Corporation Commissioner demanding a scientific investigation by experts.
According to Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhilash Mishra, the team of IIT Indore has been called on the demand of the temple priest. For now, the administration will wait for the experts' report. Only after receiving the report will it be decided whether the statue can be removed or some other method will have to be adopted to keep it safe.
Experts told the possibility of being thousand years old
According to a media report, the statue is likely to be around a thousand years old. According to the report, the structure of the statue and the stone used indicate its antiquity.
This statue of Hanuman ji appears to be made of strong basalt stone found in the Malwa region. There is evidence of sculptures being made on such stones during the Parmar period and Raja Bhoj period. He also raised the possibility that in ancient times, a technique like interlock was used to strengthen large statues.

Now the technical investigation of IIT is trying to find out how deep the statue is actually installed inside the ground and what kind of structure exists under or around it. Only after the report comes, it will be clear whether it is possible to shift it without causing any damage or not.
