New Delhi. Three big tech giants promoting AI around the world have agreed to slow down the pace of development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It started with a warning blog post on Saturday from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. A few hours later, OpenAI Chief Sam Altman and XAI boss Elon Musk also supported this by posting on X.

Altman and Musk agreed
Altman wrote on X that I agree with Dario. He said his company would follow Amodei's lead in welcoming third-party safety evaluators. Musk, the world's richest man and owner of X, wrote that Dario is right.
What did Amodei write?
Amid growing concerns about the dangers associated with super-intelligent computer systems, Amodei wrote in a post on his personal website that we need to slow down the pace of increasing the capabilities of AI models. Still, progress will be rapid and we will have to use the time given to us wisely.

His comments come days after AI researcher Jacob Coxon decided to leave the industry, accusing the two American companies of gambling with his life in the race to create models capable of improving themselves. Jacob Coxon left OpenAI to join Anthropic.
Amodei said that by not creating the technology, humanity will not be able to get its benefits or AI will fall into the hands of dictatorial forces, while creating it too fast would also be negligent. We have chosen the middle path. Amodei started Anthropique in 2021 with his sister Daniela.
“But over the past few months, I have become convinced that even greater caution is needed to fully address the risks,” he wrote. Amodei's statement was similar to Anthropic's appeal in early June to slow or stop development. Then in late July, Altman said that developers themselves might need to slow down to give the community a chance to adjust.
More than 1,000 employees at cutting-edge AI companies signed a petition calling on the US government to help thoughtfully control the pace of automated AI development. Amodei also signed it.

Amodei warned in his blog that the Hugging Face incident should not be ignored as an isolated incident. He explained that the group of agents actually worked as a very dedicated team. They conducted cyber-security attacks against targets they were not asked to attack and that were unrelated to their current work.
