New Delhi: The Northern Range of Delhi Traffic Police is on full high alert to keep the traffic on the roads of the capital smooth and safe during the BRICS summit. In view of the conference, the police has increased strictness against those who ignore traffic rules. A total of 4,712 challans were cut in the northern range on 11 and 12 September.
Special operation of traffic police on major roads
Under the direction and supervision of DCP Traffic Northern Range Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal, traffic police personnel conducted special operations on major roads and important traffic corridors. During this period, special attention was kept on those violations which are directly related to road safety and traffic discipline.
335 challans for dangerous driving, 308 challans for no-entry
During the campaign, 335 challans were issued for dangerous driving, 308 challans for breaking no-entry rules and 88 challans for drunken driving. Apart from this, action was also taken against violations of other traffic rules.
Surveillance campaign will continue on the streets till BRICS conference
Traffic police say that monitoring and enforcement operations on the roads will continue during the BRICS summit. Special vigilance is being maintained on major routes and sensitive traffic corridors, so that amidst VIP movement, the traffic of common people also remains safe and orderly. The police have appealed to the drivers to follow the traffic rules and avoid any kind of negligence.
