An Air India flight from Mumbai to Dehradun was diverted to Lucknow on Sunday after adverse weather and poor visibility affected landing conditions at Dehradun airport, according to the airline.
The flight, AI431, was diverted to Lucknow on the directions of Air Traffic Control (ATC) and landed safely at the airport at around 4:45 pm.
The aircraft was later cleared to resume its journey after weather conditions at Dehradun improved. According to Air India's flight information, the aircraft departed Lucknow for Dehradun at around 6 pm.
Earlier on Sunday, another Air India flight, AI1886, operating from Bhopal to Delhi, was diverted to Jaipur following a technical issue.
“Flight AI1886 operating from Bhopal to Delhi on 13 September was diverted to Jaipur due to a technical issue as per laid down procedures,” Air India said. The aircraft landed safely in Jaipur and was being inspected in accordance with the airline's safety protocols.
The developments come days after an Air India pilot died following a cardiac arrest while on a layover in Delhi. The pilot was found unconscious at a hotel on Friday evening and was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The Mumbai-based pilot had previously worked with Air India Express and had moved to Air India a few months ago. He was scheduled to operate a flight early on Saturday.
In another recent incident, an Air India Express flight from Kochi to Abu Dhabi made an air turnaround in August after the crew detected an issue with the aircraft, in line with established safety procedures.
