New Delhi:There was chaos in Khadda Colony of Swaroop Nagar on Sunday when a massive fire suddenly broke out in a warehouse located in street number-2. Within no time, the fire engulfed the ground and first floor of the building and a cloud of smoke spread all around. As soon as the information was received, Delhi Fire Service teams reached the spot and took charge.
According to the fire department, the fire broke out in a complex of about 200 square yards located at Khasra No. 357/58. The building had a tin shed on the basement, ground floor, first floor and second floor. Rexin cutting and cotton webbing items were kept here. It was also revealed on the spot that the work of making judo dresses and boxing gloves was done in the premises.
As soon as information about the fire was received, several fire units were initially sent to the spot. Seeing the magnitude of the fire, additional fire engines kept reaching the spot. A total of 15 fire units were deployed up to Mech-6, which included 5 SWT, 7 Water Bowser, 1BFT, 1 QRV and 1 MP unit.
There was a commotion in the neighboring building
Seeing the fire and smoke, panic spread in the nearby buildings. Meanwhile, 6 people from the opposite building, including women and children, got scared and tried to get out. During this time he suffered injuries. The injured were taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital and one injured to Government Hospital Burari. A man jumped from a nearby building, injuring his right leg. The condition of all the injured is said to be out of danger.
Fire brigade extinguished the fire
At around 1:50 a message was given by the fire department that the fire was under control. After this, 'Stop' message was received at around 2:10 pm. The fire was completely extinguished and most of the fire units were recalled. At present two units were kept on the spot for surveillance. Fire operation was commanded by DO A.K. Jaiswal, ADO R.K. Sinha, ADO CL. The fire department team including Meena took over the relief and rescue operation on the spot.
