Patel Nagar New Delhi- The incident of Anil Sharma, a well-known social worker and President of Yuva Goonj, being allegedly attacked with a rod during the construction work near Kabir Mandir, street number 17 in Prem Nagar, is extremely sad and condemnable. It has come to light that Anil Sharma suffered a fracture in his hand in this attack. According to the information received, there was resentment among the local people regarding the quality of the street construction work. Seeing the problem of water getting into people's houses, the local people had called Anil Sharma ji to the spot.
Local people, Mandal President Jai Govind Pathak ji and others were already present there. People present at the spot were talking about calling the contractor and discussing the quality of the construction work. Meanwhile, it is alleged that a person named Manish, associated with the office of Corporation Councilor representative Pintu Sharma, reached there and allegedly beat up Anil Sharma and attacked him with a rod.
The allegation is also that Manish and his father used abusive language with Anil Sharma and gave threats of dire consequences and death. If these allegations are true, then it is a very serious and condemnable incident. The biggest question is whether raising questions on the quality of roads and development work among the public is such a big crime that a social worker should be attacked in response to it?
There may be differences of opinion in politics, but fighting, abuse, threats and violence cannot be acceptable under any circumstances. Anil Sharma has been active in the social and political field for years and has been recognized among the old workers of Bharatiya Janata Party. In such a situation, this kind of behavior towards old workers and social workers by people who have come into politics from outside or have recently joined the party, also raises serious questions on the working culture and political dignity of the party.
We do not hold any personal grudge against any person, but it is the right of every citizen to raise voice against violence and intimidation. There is a demand from the administration that the entire matter should be investigated impartially and strict action should be taken against the culprits as per law and the safety of Anil Sharma ji and his family should be ensured. Politics should be a medium of service, not of fear and bullying. Differences should be resolved democratically, not through violence.
