FSSAI has found irregularities in some of the claims made in the advertisements of these products and the amount of essential nutrient biotin in one of the products.
Also, three separate cases have been registered against Nestle India in this matter. One of these cases is related to the advertisement of the product, while in the other case, during the testing of the product, the amount of biotin was found to be less than the prescribed standard.
The names of two Nestle formula milk products have come to light in the FSSAI action. These include NAN EXCELLAPRO Stage 1 and LACTOGEN PRO 1. Both these products fall in the category of formula milk used for small children. Nestle sells formula milk products of these brands in its nutrition category. However, FSSAI's action does not mean that all Nestle baby food products are unsafe. The present case pertains to certain products, their advertising claims and the biotin content. In such cases, the regulator sees whether the companies are following the prescribed food safety and labeling rules or not. Therefore, instead of panicking, parents buying formula milk for their children have been advised to buy formula milk for their children as per the doctor's advice.

The first case is related to the advertising and promotional claims of these products. FSSAI has raised questions about some of the claims of the company and has made it a subject of investigation under food rules. In the case of baby food, there are very strict rules regarding the claims made in product packaging and advertising. In this case, FSSAI says that some promotional claims made by the company were not as per the prescribed rules. This action has been taken on this.
What was found in the second case?
The second issue is related to the amount of biotin present in a product. Biotin is an essential vitamin, which is important for the body. In FSSAI's investigation, the quantity of this nutrient was found to be less than the prescribed standard. The special thing is that even in re-testing the amount of biotin was found to be less.
