Veteran actress Shabana Azmi celebrated her 75th birthday on September 18 with a gathering of friends and colleagues from the film industry in Mumbai.
A day before her birthday, Shabana received a unique and expressive gift from actress Vidya Balan and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur that left her beaming with happiness.
Sharing the gesture on her social media, Shabana revealed a cake featuring an artistic portrait of her alongside the words “Batwarapan! A talent that is borderless! EST. 1950 STILL GOING STRONG/EST.”
She thanked Vidya and Siddharth, saying, “Thank you so much #Siddharth Roy Kapur and #Vidya Balan for this innovative message. It brought a big smile to my face.”
The actress also gave fans a glimpse into her birthday celebrations, attended by many from the film fraternity.
In another post, Shabana shared a group photo of her actress friends captioned simply as “Pretty women.”
The party included well-known faces such as Divya Dutta, Tanvi Azmi, Dia Mirza, Richa Chadha, Vidya Balan and Shahana Goswami, creating a lively atmosphere for the milestone event.
Filmmaker-producer Boney Kapoor was also present and was seen enjoying pani puri with Shabana during the celebration.
Shabana spent time with childhood friends as well, with the group singing the iconic song ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Todenge’ from the 1975 film Sholay.
Born on September 18, 1950, Shabana Azmi is the daughter of poet Kaifi Azmi and theatre actress Shaukat Kaifi.
Her film debut came in 1974 with Shyam Benegal’s ‘Ankur’, which marked a significant milestone in her career.
