Tata Motors has been enjoying a lot of success after the launch of the Sierra mid-size SUV in India. However, now, after hearing feedback and demands from the customers, the company has now launched the Sierra Legend Series in the country. The new Sierra Legend Series, as requested by Sierra buyers, has brought the features from higher variants to the lower trims. This new Legend Series will co-exist with the existing Signature Series and will offer five new variants, namely – Smart+ L, Pure L, Pure L(O), Pure+ L and Adventure+ L.
First off, let’s start with the pricing of the new Sierra Legend Series. It starts with the Smart+ L at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 50,000 more expensive than the standard Smart+ variant. Next up in the lineup is the Pure L, which has been priced at Rs 13.79 lakh, and it is followed by the Pure L(O) at Rs 14.29 lakh. As for the next variant, it is the Pure+ L variant at Rs 14.99 lakh, and the top-spec Adventure+ L has been priced at Rs 16.99 lakh.
The first variant in the new Legend Series is the Smart+ L. It has been designed to offer a more premium cabin experience from the entry point itself. It gets six airbags, Electronic Stability Program with 20 safety and stability functions, all-wheel disc brakes and an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold.
Other standard equipment includes Bi-LED projector headlamps, Light Saber LED DRLs and tail lamps, flush door handles with welcome lights and a dual-tone roof. On the inside, it gets a 10.16 cm digital cockpit, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear AC vents, tilt and telescopic steering, flat-folding rear seats, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts.
The Legend Series also adds leatherette seats, leatherette door trims and armrests, steering-mounted controls, auto-folding ORVMs, 17-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers and roof rails to the Smart+ L. So, even though this is the entry-level Legend variant, the cabin will feel more premium than the standard base trim.
Moving up in the lineup, we have the Pure L variant, priced at Rs 13.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The Pure L is built on the Smart+ L but adds more infotainment and convenience features. The biggest addition is a 26.03 cm touchscreen infotainment system, which comes paired with an eight-speaker audio system. It also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with more than 250 native voice commands available in six languages.
Other additions include a rear camera with parking guidelines, cruise control, City and Sport drive modes, Hill Descent Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Tata has also added 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear wiper with washer and a spare wheel as well. This makes the Pure L the variant where the Legend Series gets a major jump in terms of digital features and everyday convenience.
Next up, we have the Pure L(O) variant, priced at Rs 14.29 lakh (ex-showroom), and it retains the equipment of the Pure L. Its main addition is Tata’s voice-assisted Panoramax panoramic sunroof. This gives buyers access to the open-air feature without moving to the higher Pure+ L or Adventure+ L variants.
Along with the panoramic sunroof, the Pure L(O) also gets automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. This variant focuses mainly on adding the panoramic roof and automated convenience features to the Pure L package.
The second-highest trim in the newly launched Legend Series is the Pure+ L variant, which has been priced at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Pure+ L takes the comfort-focused features of the higher Sierra variants and brings them down the range. It retains the complete Pure L(O) package and adds a full leatherette interior. It also gets ventilated front seats and a six-way powered driver’s seat.
Apart from these, the variant is also being offered with a thigh-support extender, Boss Mode, dual-zone fully automatic climate control, a driver one-touch anti-pinch window, two rear 65W USB-C chargers, a boot lamp and a rear defogger.
The final and top-of-the-line variant in the new Sierra Legend Series is the Adventure+ L variant, which costs Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Its upgrades include a 360-degree HD Surround View System with 4Sight Blind Spot View, front parking sensors and LED fog lamps with a cornering function.
The Adventure+ L also gets Tata’s Superglide Suspension with Frequency Dependent Damping, along with Normal, Wet and Rough terrain modes. And on the inside, it gets a larger 31.24 cm infotainment touchscreen and a 26.03 cm digital cockpit with navigation, mood lighting and wireless charging. The rear-seat package includes a two-stage reclining 60:40 rear seat, rear armrest, adjustable rear headrests, a rear occupant sensor and a cooled glovebox.
The Sierra Legend Series is currently available with two engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. The petrol engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCA. Meanwhile, the diesel gets a 6-speed manual and a torque-converter automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre TGDI turbo-petrol is not on offer with the Sierra Legend Series.
