Car Mileage: Maruti Suzuki India has expanded its S-CNG portfolio by introducing the option of automatic gearbox for the first time in the CNG variants of Swift, DZire and Baleno. The company has updated these cars with 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). This will give customers the option of easy and comfortable driving in heavy city traffic with better mileage of CNG.

How much is the price?
Maruti Suzuki has launched all three S-CNG AMT models in the market at different starting prices. Swift S-CNG AMT price starts at Rs 7.29 lakh. Whereas, the starting ex-showroom price of Baleno S-CNG AMT is Rs 8.32 lakh and the price of Dezire S-CNG AMT is Rs 8.53 lakh.

Engine and Mileage
The company’s 1.2-litre Z12E engine has been provided in the new S-CNG AMT cars. This engine is equipped with Dual Variable Valve Timing (Dual VVT) and Idle Start-Stop (ISS) technology. The engine is paired with a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

According to the company’s claim, Dezire S-CNG AMT gives the highest mileage of 36.47 km/kg. After this, the mileage of Swift S-CNG AMT is 35.34 km/kg and the mileage of Baleno S-CNG AMT is 34.47 km/kg.

The AMT gearbox makes driving easy, especially in cities. There is no need to repeatedly press the clutch and change gears during traffic. However, the driver can also change gears manually if needed.

Safety focus in S-CNG system
Maruti Suzuki has also given priority to safety in its S-CNG technology. It has been provided with intelligent injection system for better air-fuel mix. Apart from this, stainless-steel pipes and joints have been used in the CNG system, which helps in reducing the risk of corrosion and gas leakage.

The cars also have an integrated wiring harness and special microswitches. This microswitch helps in preventing the vehicle from starting while filling CNG.

Demand for S-CNG is increasing rapidly
According to Maruti Suzuki, the demand for its S-CNG models is continuously increasing in the Indian market. In the first quarter of the current year, the company’s S-CNG sales have increased by 58 percent as compared to the same period last year.

The company recorded sales of 83,000 S-CNG vehicles in July 2026, its highest ever monthly S-CNG sales. The company says that the new automatic S-CNG models have been introduced keeping in mind the customers who want a convenient automatic driving experience in traffic along with mileage.
