New Delhi: Anthropic, a company famous for its advanced model cloud in the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), no longer wants to be limited to just software. Let us tell you, the company has prepared a biology lab in the San Francisco Bay Area. With this step, it is moving towards increasing the use of its AI models in medicine and biology related research. But let us know why it has been prepared in this lab.
What will be special in the wet lab?
This lab has been named 'Wet Lab', where scientists will conduct experiments directly on chemicals, medicines and biological samples. Anthropic plans that its AI model Claude will plan and understand these experiments and the robotic system will execute them. The company has made it clear that every experiment will be monitored by humans and AI will not be allowed to take any decision alone.
Special attention to rare diseases
Anthropic focuses on rare diseases that big pharma companies don't pay much attention to. The company believes that with the help of AI, the speed of finding medicines for such diseases can increase manifold. At present the company will remain limited to pre-clinical research only, there are no plans to go into clinical trials.
Anthropic's life sciences head Eric Couderer-Abrams confirmed this lab to Reuters. He says that even today major success in biology is not possible without real lab tests and that is why the company has taken this step.
Officials confirmed
Anthropic's life sciences head Eric Couderer-Abrams confirmed this lab to Reuters. He says that even today major success in biology is not possible without real lab tests and that is why the company has taken this step. The company is doing some of the work itself in its own facilities and some is being done in collaboration with external partners. The spokesperson clarified that the lab is not set up just to discover medicines.
CEO Dario Amodei's personal sentiment is also attached to this effort. He told that a disease had taken the life of his father, the treatment of which was possible after a few years.
