The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has issued notices to several prominent leaders and officials, including BJP veteran LK Advani, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Election Commissioner S. S. Sandhu.
According to reports, the notices were triggered by spelling mismatches, non‑mapping with previous SIR records, or logical discrepancies in electoral data.
The list also includes Congress leaders Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his family members, as well as Pratibha Advani, daughter of LK Advani.
Officials clarified that the notices are part of routine verification to ensure accuracy and transparency in voter lists. The exercise highlights the wide scope of the SIR, which has reached into political and bureaucratic circles alike.
The Election Commission has emphasised that the process is corrective, not punitive, and aims to strengthen electoral integrity ahead of future polls.
