Delhi Police identifies 40 Foreign Nationals Living Illegally: Delhi Police has taken major action against foreign nationals living illegally in Delhi. Delhi Police launched an operation and identified 40 foreign nationals living illegally. Police simultaneously raided 43 locations and examined 40 foreign nationals. These include 30 men and 10 women.
During verification, the maximum number of 31 Nigerian citizens was found. These include 28 men and 3 women. Apart from this, 4 citizens of Uganda (all women), 3 women citizens of Tanzania and 2 male citizens of Ivory Coast also came under investigation.
To carry out the operation, 25 teams were formed consisting of police personnel from all the police stations and special units of Dwarka district. About 150 policemen were involved in this action. Police teams took simultaneous action at the identified locations on the basis of local information collected in advance, field verification and human intelligence. According to the police, the main focus of the investigation was to find out on what basis the foreign nationals are staying in Delhi and whether they have valid passport, visa and other necessary documents or not.
The police were also finding out whether any foreign national was involved in criminal activity, whether his documents were correct or not and whether he was following the visa conditions or not. If any violation of rules is found, legal action will be taken in coordination with the concerned agencies.
10 Deportation proceedings against foreigners
Following the cases revealed in the investigation, the police have taken action against 10 foreign nationals to initiate deportation process. These include 5 Nigerians, 4 Ugandans and 1 Tanzanian citizen. Among these 10 people, 6 are women and 4 are men.
