State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a fresh advisory ahead of the three‑day nationwide bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) from September 28 to 30, 2026.
The advisory follows UFBU’s one‑day strike on September 11 and comes as part of the union’s larger programme, which also includes a continuous strike beginning October 26.
SBI has asked customers to complete important branch‑dependent transactions before September 26 to avoid inconvenience. With September 26 and 27 being weekend holidays, the strike could result in five consecutive days of limited branch access.
The bank assured efforts to maintain essential services but cautioned that branch operations may be affected depending on employee participation. Customers needing cash are advised to use ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs).
For routine transactions, SBI has encouraged the use of Customer Service Points (CSPs) along with digital platforms such as internet banking, YONO, mobile banking, and UPI. These channels can handle payments, transfers, and other services without requiring a branch visit.
However, SBI noted that certain services involving physical documents or staff assistance may face delays if branch operations are disrupted.
The UFBU’s September 28–30 strike, combined with the weekend, highlights the importance of planning ahead for banking needs. Customers are urged to finish pending documentation and branch‑related work before September 26 while relying on digital and alternative channels during the strike.
