Luxury Car Controversy: Bihar's young MLA and folk singer Maithili Thakur is in the news these days on social media regarding a luxury car. After he was seen in a Rolls-Royce car in Mumbai, some users on social media started raising questions. After this, actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut responded to the trolls by defending Maithili Thakur.

Kangana Ranaut hit back at this post and said, “We are not interested in public money but expecting us to always live a poor and lifeless life is absolutely absurd.” He wrote on social media, “Some people feel bad when they see politicians living a good life. Right now one of our young MLAs is being trolled for using a luxury car. We may do social service but we also have our own career, life and popularity.”
The controversy started when pictures and videos of Maithili Thakur being seen in a Rolls-Royce went viral on social media. Some posts claimed that the price of the car is around Rs 13 crore. However, the situation regarding the ownership of the car was not clear. According to the report, Maithili Thakur's team told that this car is not theirs.

At the same time, according to the election affidavit filed during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Maithili Thakur had declared her total assets to be around Rs 3.82 crore. In the affidavit, his profession is mentioned as singer.
At the age of just 26, Maithili Thakur entered the Assembly in 2025 by winning the election from Alinagar Assembly seat on BJP ticket. Before entering electoral politics, she had made her mark in the field of folk and traditional music.
