Recently 'Make America Great Again' activist and YouTuber Jessie shared a photo of the statue on her X handle. Wrote, 'When we win, we'll tear it down.' Besides, he termed the idol as anti-Christian. US Army veteran Ruchir Bakshi criticized his comments. Called them 'anti-national' and 'attack on Hinduism'. Ruchir said, “If winning America means tearing down Hindu temples, then you don't want the country I fought for. You just want a right or a license to attack people who have a different opinion or identity than you.”
This Hanuman statue in Texas was unveiled in 2024. It is one of the tallest Hindu idols in America. It is the third tallest statue in America overall. But in the era of Trump, this statue is being mocked again and again. “Third world aliens are taking over America,” said one American social worker earlier this year. Last year, Republican leader Alexander Duncan said, 'Why should we allow a fake statue of a fake Hindu god to be in Texas? We are a Christian country.' According to him, there should be no idols of Hindu gods in Christian countries. It is better to say that constitutionally America is not a Christian country, but a secular state. Majority of the citizens of that country practice Christianity.
