NSNIS Patiala Cycling Coach FIR: A shocking and embarrassing case has come to light from the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) in Patiala, Punjab. The Patiala police have registered an official FIR against Kazakhstani cycling coach Meksat Ayezbayev for allegedly molesting a minor athlete here. According to the information provided by the police, the alleged incident took place on September 13, while legal action was initiated after receiving a written complaint from the victim on September 18.

Charged under IPC and POCSO Act

Giving details of the case, Patiala SP City Mohit Aggarwal said that a case has been registered against the accused coach under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act besides relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The medical examination of the minor player has been completed. A thorough investigation of all the evidences and medical reports related to the incident is being carried out by the police, based on which legal action will be taken further.

The accused coach’s passport was confiscated

During the investigation, the police got information that the accused coach might be present at a cycling camp organized in Delhi. Acting on this specific information, special teams of Patiala Police reached Delhi and raided various possible locations. However, the accused was not found there. To prevent him from fleeing the country, the police have seized the passport of the accused and intensified the search to arrest him.

Police and administrative appeals

Citing the strict rules of the POCSO Act, the police have requested the media and the general citizens of the country to exercise extra caution. Authorities have made it clear that under no circumstances should the identity or name of the minor victim be revealed. Besides, strict instructions have also been given not to contact the victim or her family members directly, so that the investigation can proceed impartially.
