New Delhi: The deep pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal has now started changing the weather trend in large parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the pace of rain will be intense in many states of Eastern, Central and South India on Wednesday. According to IMD chief Mrityunjay Mohapatra, this system can hit the coast on the night of September 23 at a speed of about 70 kilometers per hour. The maximum impact of this weather system is visible in the coastal and southern areas of Odisha, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is occurring.
In view of the situation, the state government has decided to keep schools and colleges closed till September 24 in seven districts, while the leaves of government employees have also been cancelled. 33 ODRAF teams have been deployed to deal with the disaster, out of which 24 have been sent to sensitive districts. Red alert has been issued in Koraput, Gajapati and Ganjam, where rainfall may exceed 20 cm. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea till September 24.
Currently relief in Delhi, weather will change in UP-Uttarakhand
At present the weather will remain dry in Delhi-NCR and there is no major alert till September 28. The maximum temperature may remain around 34-36 degrees. However, thunderstorms may start in eastern Uttar Pradesh from Thursday and heavy rain is expected from September 25. Rain will intensify in Uttarakhand from Friday and very heavy rain may occur in some areas on Saturday.
Weather will be active in Central India and South India also
There is a warning of very heavy rain at some places in Bihar on Thursday-Friday. There will be rain with thunder and lightning in Jharkhand also on Wednesday. Heavy to extremely heavy rain is expected in Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh till Thursday. Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may receive extremely heavy rain on Thursday. Rain will also continue in Konkan and central parts of Maharashtra. There will be rain and thundershowers till Friday in the northeastern states including Assam and Meghalaya.
