Allahabad High Court has given a big decision which is being discussed. The court has freed a 26-year-old girl from the custody of her father. This whole matter is about an inter-religious marriage. The court has made it clear that every adult has the right to choose his partner. Ghaziabad resident Sonika Chauhan has been allowed by the court to live with her husband Akbar Khan.
The court has also directed the police to provide complete security to the couple. The court has also warned the family members not to interfere in the lives of both of them.

What is the whole matter?
Sonika Chauhan married Akbar Khan. Due to the different religions of both, the family members had objections to this marriage. The dispute reached the court and a hearing took place in the case. Sonia told the court that her father had imprisoned her in the house against her will. She told that she had married Akbar without any pressure. She wants to live with him but her father has kept her locked in the house.
Sonika's husband Akbar also told the court that they both love each other. Also, they want to marry as per their wish and live together. On the contrary, the father has claimed that the girl was living at home on her own will. The girl's father Laxman Singh Chauhan told the court that Akbar had trapped his daughter by blackmailing her.

High Court's comment
This case was heard in the High Court on the Habeas Corpus petition. After listening to both the parties, Judge Sandeep Jain said that when a person becomes an adult according to the law, he gets the right to take his own life decisions.
The court also said that no parent or family can impose their choices on children. Choosing a life partner of one's choice is a personal and fundamental right of a human being. The family cannot have any control in this. The court immediately gave its verdict and freed Sonika from her father's custody. Also gave the verdict in her favor and allowed her to go with her husband Akbar.
