Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board has sought advice from Mike Hesson to find a replacement for former Australia cricketer Ashley Noffke who has resigned as the national team’s bowling coach.
Noffke will leave the Pakistan team to become head coach of the Netherlands after the Asian Games. A reliable source in the PCB said Hesson has been asked to help find a suitable replacement.
Noffke had joined Pakistan’s white-ball team as bowling coach/assistant coach in May 2025 and was also bowling coach for Pakistan’s final Test against England earlier this month.
“The PCB has to appoint a new bowling coach after going through the proper process of advertising the post which they have done. But they have asked Hesson to suggest a replacement,” the source said.
He said it was Hesson who had convinced Noffke to become the bowling coach of the white ball squad in May last year.
According to the PCB, candidates applying for the position must hold Level 3 cricket coaching accreditation and have at least five years of coaching experience. Interested candidates can submit their applications by October 8.
The PCB had removed former Test bowler Umar Gul as the bowling coach of the Pakistan Test squad in England last month along with head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed.
The source said Hesson, after the Asian Games, might have a new look coaching staff which will be based on his recommendations.
“The PCB is also considering giving Hesson the responsibility of managing the Test side for the remaining matches of the ICC World Test Championship, but after the Asian Games, Pakistan’s international commitments are all white ball matches against Sri Lanka and England in October,” the source added.
