The bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee, while approving the petition filed by Indus Birra Beverages, directed to waive the fine imposed on the company. The company had demanded waiver of the fine of Rs 50,000 imposed in the order of August 20. The bench, in its order, said that the counsel for the petitioners should direct their client to serve samosas and tea to all the employees of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) within a week.

New Delhi. Delhi High Court on Thursday issued a notice on the petition of journalist Omar Rashid, demanding removal of anonymous posts made against him on social media. According to the petition, in these posts made by a female lawyer last year, serious allegations including sexual harassment were made against Rashid. A bench of Justice Manoj Jain sought response from the respondents on the interim injunction application filed along with Rashid's defamation petition. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for October 7. During the hearing, the bench also asked lawyer Adit Pujari, appearing for Rashid, whether there was any possibility of resolving the matter amicably between the two parties. The lawyer said that both the parties were previously in a relationship. The bench orally said that whether the allegations against Rashid are true or false, they are serious in nature. After this, the court sought response from the defendants on the demand for interim relief of removing social media posts.

This case is related to an anonymous post made on social media by two women lawyers. In these posts, serious allegations were made against journalist Omar Rashid, including rape and allegedly force-feeding him beef. Rashid has filed a defamation case in Delhi High Court regarding these allegations and has demanded removal of the related post. Based on these allegations, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had registered a case against Rashid in May 2025. This action was taken by Tanmay N., convener of Sahyadri Rights Forum. The NHRC's March 13 proceedings said that no response was received from the complainant regarding the Delhi Police report. The Commission, in its final order, said that in view of the available facts and circumstances, further interference in the matter is not necessary and the proceedings are closed. Now the Delhi High Court will hear the reply of the defendants on the interim demand for removal of social media posts in the defamation case filed by Rashid.
