Today is the last day of Ganeshotsav. Ganesh idols are being immersed in rivers, lakes, ponds and artificial tanks across the country. More than 25,000 police personnel will be deployed in Mumbai. 383 artificial tanks have been prepared for immersion.
In Hyderabad also, 25 to 30,000 police personnel will be deployed to handle security and traffic arrangements. 24 drones and 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed for surveillance. 100 more cameras have been installed in the Hussain Sagar area, while cranes, emergency boats, divers and medical centers have been deployed on the banks of the lake. Changes in traffic routes and many restrictions will remain in effect during the procession.
More than 1.5 lakh idols were immersed in Mumbai in the last 10 days. According to the BMC, so far this year, 1,63,386 Ganpati idols have been immersed in the 12-day festival, which spanned one and a half days, five days, six days and seven days.
