Shubman Gill: Before the ODI series against West Indies, an alarming news came out from the camp of the Indian cricket team. During a practice session on Friday (September 25) evening, Indian team captain Shubman Gill was injured when a ball from Mohammad Siraj hit him on the right elbow. He was immediately taken out of the nets after the ball hit and his elbow was bandaged. Gil Stayed off the field for more than half an hour and did not take batting practice again.

Gill suffered an elbow injury that raised questions about whether he would be able to play in the first ODI on September 27. According to the report, Gill may not have batted after the injury, but he was seen interacting with teammates on the field and did not even have an ice pack on his hand.
Full possibility to play as captain
Initial indications suggest that the injury is not serious and he will be seen leading the team in the first match. Gill has been the most successful batsman for India in ODI cricket in 2026. He has scored 561 runs in 8 innings from 9 matches this year at an impressive average of 93.50, including 1 century and 5 fifties.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli practice session together
Shortly before captain Shubman Gill got injured, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took batting practice together in the nets. Both the stalwarts batted together for about 20 minutes and easily hit attractive shots against the Indian bowlers as well as the local net bowlers. Virat Kohli looked in fine form after being ruled out of the previous home series against Afghanistan. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century in his last ODI at Lord’s and will be keen to maintain the same winning form against the West Indies.
