New Delhi . Indian cricket team's star batsman Virat Kohli has made his intentions clear regarding the 2027 ODI World Cup. He said that the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup to be held in South Africa will be his last World Cup for India. Kohli also said that he is fully prepared to do whatever it takes to win the title.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are currently playing only one format in international cricket. Both have their eyes on the 2027 ODI World Cup. India's World Cup preparations will also continue with the ODI series against West Indies starting from Sunday.
In a conversation before the first ODI, Kohli talked about the challenge of the 50-over World Cup and the inspiration he gets from it. He said that the intensity of the ODI World Cup is more than any other match. According to him, now the intensity like T20 level has to be maintained for about 10 matches in the tournament and this challenge becomes bigger in foreign conditions.
Kohli clearly said that this will be his last World Cup for India and this is a big inspiration for him. He said that he wants to leave everything on the field. Their aim is to win the World Cup and they are ready to do whatever it takes to do so.
Virat Kohli's record in the ODI World Cup has also been impressive. He has so far scored 1,795 runs in 37 World Cup matches at an average of 59.83. During this period, he has scored five centuries and 12 half-centuries. His highest score in the World Cup is 117 runs.
Talking about his entire ODI career, Kohli has scored 14,941 runs in 302 innings. His batting average is 58.59 and he has scored 54 centuries and 79 half-centuries. His highest score in ODI is 183 runs.
Kohli's performance in the T20 World Cup has also been excellent. He has scored 1,292 runs in 35 matches at an average of 58.73. He has 15 half-centuries to his name. He has also been the Player of the Tournament of the T20 World Cup twice in 2014 and 2016.
At the same time, Rohit Sharma also shared his thoughts regarding the 2027 World Cup. He said that he does not consider his World Cup goal as an incomplete task which once completed will be over. According to Rohit, as long as a player plays, he always faces the challenge of achieving something new.
Rohit said he is excited about the World Cup and is looking forward to what lies ahead for him. He also told that in ICC tournaments one has to face different teams and grounds, hence there has to be a change in preparation and thinking also.
The first match of the ODI series between India and West Indies will be played on Sunday at 2 pm. This series is being seen as an important start towards the preparations for the 2027 World Cup.
