TRAI, the agency that controls the telecom sector in the country, has taken the strictest action so far against those making spam calls and messages.
By issuing a new notification, TRAI has given a clear order to all the telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vi to track spam calls themselves using AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence. The most interesting thing is that now you will not even need to complain about any fake number. AI will automatically catch the spammer and the company will immediately disconnect his connection.
AI will catch spammers on its own, no need for user to complain
Often we get fed up with spam calls and disconnect the phone or block that number. But very few people lodge official complaints against him. Taking advantage of this, people making spam calls keep calling from new numbers continuously.
But now the whole system has changed under the new Third Amendment Regulation of TRAI. Now if the AI or machine learning system of a telecom company identifies a number as ‘suspected spam’, then the company will have to take immediate action without waiting for any customer’s complaint. This means that now AI itself will become your bodyguard and stop these fake calls.
Action will start in just 2 hours
In the new framework of TRAI, the timeline has been kept very tight so that spammers do not get a chance to escape.
As soon as any network’s AI system receives a suspicious call, it will have to provide complete information within 2 hours to the network from where the call originated. After this, the company to which that SIM belongs will have to find the KYC data of that person and share it with all the other telecom companies within 1 working day.
Not only this, all the companies will check which other SIMs have been activated on KYC of that spammer in the last 10 days.
If caught 5 times in 10 days, you will be given a tough class.
If the investigation reveals that spam calls have been made 5 or more times in the last 10 days from different numbers related to KYC of any one person or company, then strict action will be taken against him. TRAI has clearly said that in such cases, not only the SIM from which the call was made will be blocked, but all the phone connections in the name of that spammer will be banned immediately.
Outgoing stopped for 15 days on first mistake, 1 year blacklist on second time.
TRAI has made the penalty rules so strict that anyone will think a hundred times before making a spam call. If caught for the first time: If the AI system catches someone spamming for the first time, then the outgoing service of all the SIMs or telecom resources in the name of that person will be completely banned for 15 days.
If caught for the second time: If the person repeats the same act again, all his SIM, PRI lines and internet connections will be disconnected for 1 year. Also, he will be blacklisted for 1 year, due to which he will not be able to buy a new SIM from any company in the country for 1 year.
Big break on apps like Truecaller too
Nowadays most of the youth use Truecaller or calling management apps in their phones. But the new rules of TRAI have issued a guideline for these apps also. Now any app like Truecaller will not be able to spam or block tag the special number series (like numbers starting from 160) decided by the government or telecom authority as per its wish. This number series is reserved for government and official commercial calls. However, if a user himself wants to block a number in his personal phone, he will have complete freedom to do so.
Send this SMS to stop unnecessary promotional calls
If you also want complete freedom from promotional calls and messages with useless offers, then you will have to do a little work.
Now you have to send SMS by writing BLOCK PROMO to 1909 from your phone. By doing this, all types of commercial and promotional calls on your number will be completely blocked. But keep in mind, this will not stop your bank’s OTP, transactional messages and government notifications. They will continue to come to you as safely as before.
