Price is Rs 21 crore in international market
Mumbai, (Language) A man was arrested after allegedly seizing 7 kg of ketamine worth Rs 21 crore from him at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. An official gave this information on Thursday.
The man, who was boarding a flight to Phuket, Thailand, was intercepted by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs on Wednesday based on a specific intelligence input, the official said.
“The passenger and his luggage were deboarded from the aircraft for detailed examination,” he said. During the investigation, 7 kg of substance was recovered, which is initially suspected to be ketamine, a psychoactive substance, in the field investigation. The estimated value of the seized substance in the international illicit drug market is Rs 21 crore.
The official said the passenger has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and further investigation is being conducted to ascertain his possible links with the international drug trafficking network.
