Asian Games: India won third gold in archery, compound team defeated China

India's excellent performance continues on the 11th day of the Asian Games 2026. India has won its third gold medal in archery on this day. This gold was won by the Indian men's compound team. India faced China in the final. The team of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Rajesh Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru won the gold medal by defeating China 238-237 in a tough match.

 

In the final, the Indian team was initially lagging behind China but the Indian archers made a brilliant comeback under pressure. Sahil Jadhav did not hit even a single 9 in the entire match and all his shots were worth 10 points. He also took the last shot at 10. Kushal and Ganesh also played an important role in the team's victory by hitting accurate targets at important moments.

China's dominance in the first two rounds

China started the final brilliantly. His first three arrows hit the target of 10. For India, Sahil and Ganesh scored 10 points each, while Kushal had a target of 9. Due to this, India lagged by one point in the initial round. In the second rotation also, Chinese archers hit accurate targets. For India, Ganesh had one shot of 9, while Kushal and Sahil scored 10-10 points. After this China was ahead 60-58. As the match progressed, there was a tough competition between the two teams and China maintained its lead.

India turned the match in the last round

Till the middle of the match, China maintained a lead of two points. After this, Indian archers started reducing the gap by continuously hitting 10 targets. At one time India's score was 148 points, while China was at 149 points. After this the match came down to a difference of just one point. The Indian trio maintained the pressure in the final round. An arrow from China was given 8 marks, which was also reviewed. After this India strengthened its position. Sahil hit the last shot at 10 points and Kushal and Ganesh also scored 10 points each. China also had 10 consecutive targets but in the end India won 238-237.
