Eight members of a group who had come to take bath on Thursday at Diveagar beach in Raigarh district of Maharashtra died due to drowning. According to the information, the students drowned due to sudden strong waves while landing in the sea. After receiving information about the accident, local people and rescue teams started the rescue operation. With the help of Mahakali Water Sports personnel and local citizens, the bodies of eight students were fished out of the sea. The bodies have been kept at Borli Panchtan Primary Health Centre. Let us tell you that 8 students from Pune who had come to visit Diveagar beach on the Konkan coast in Raigarh district became victims of the accident.
A group of 42 students had come to visit Diveagar.
According to media reports, 42 students of Winners Academy located in Alandi had come to Diveagar on a trip. According to the information, among them were students of class 11th and 12th. Meanwhile, 8 students of the group went into the sea to swim. Shortly after landing in the sea, they were hit by strong currents and waves. Within no time all the students drowned.
However, sudden strong waves in the sea have been said to be the major reason for the accident. Local people said that tourists and students could not get the correct idea of the depth of the sea and the changing level of water.
Local people rescued the students
As soon as information about the accident was received, the local rescue team reached the spot. The employees of Mahakali Water Sports along with the local citizens and tourists present here assisted in the rescue operation. After much effort, all 8 students were brought out of the sea. After this all the dead bodies were sent to Borli Panchtan Primary Health Centre. Further legal process will continue here.
Under the rescue team, students and tourists from outside often come to visit Diveagar. People are warned considering the depth of the sea. According to the rescue team, people coming from outside are sometimes not aware of the sea waves. Complete information about what happened in this accident is being collected.
