Sourav Ganguly becomes the head coach of Delhi Capitals, Badani's leave before IPL 2027

Delhi Capitals (DC) has made a big change before the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) i.e. IPL 2027. The franchise has appointed former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly as its new head coach. Hemang Badani, who was holding the responsibility of the head coach of the team for the last two seasons, has been retired. During Badani's tenure, DC finished sixth in the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The team appeared to be in the race for the playoffs but came close and missed both times. In such a situation, now Ganguly has been given the responsibility of handling the team's strategy.

Ganguly became DC's advisor in 2019. He has held many positions including Director of Cricket of the men's and women's teams of the franchise. Ganguly is also the head coach of DC franchise's SA20 team Pretoria Capitals.
