Pink Saheli Smart Card has been made mandatory for women to avail the facility of free travel in DTC and Transport Department buses in the capital Delhi. So far, pink smart cards of about 19.18 lakh women have been made in Delhi. Under the new rule, women will have to keep their Pink Saheli Smart Card safe. If a woman loses the card twice, she will not be issued a new Pink Smart Card for the next one year. Apart from this, the benefit of free travel facility available in DTC and Transport Department buses will also not be available during this period.
If you lose your card for the first time, you will have to pay Rs 60.
Some conditions have been imposed by DTC and the card issuing institution regarding Pink Saheli Smart Card. At present this pink smart card is being issued free of cost. If the card is lost for the first time, a woman can get a new pink smart card made by paying a fee of Rs 60. However, before issuing a new card, it will be necessary to inform about the loss of the old card and get it blocked, so that it cannot be used by any ineligible person. After this, if the Pink Saheli Smart Card issued for the second time is also lost, then the woman will have to wait for a year to get a new card. During this period he will not even get the facility of free travel in buses.
Arrangements to prevent misuse of cards
According to a senior DTC official, this arrangement has been made with the aim of preventing frequent loss and possible misuse of Pink Saheli Smart Card as well as to increase seriousness towards it among the card holders. Under this, a provision has been made to control the process of re-issuing the card.

System implemented amid complaints of fraud
Women from outside states are not eligible for Pink Saheli Smart Card. Meanwhile, cases of alleged fraud in the name of the card have also started coming to light. On Tuesday, a video of a DTC bus circulated on social media, in which the conductor allegedly detected one such case. In the video, the card holder woman is reportedly telling that she had got the Pink Saheli smart card made by paying Rs 250, although she is not a resident of Delhi.
Allegations of reaching the hands of ineligible people also
Regarding the pink ticket system, it has been alleged that during the tenure of the previous government, large-scale irregularities were committed in the name of their issuance and number. Now the complete record of the woman traveling free under Pink Saheli Smart Card system will be recorded on the server. Payment for free travel will be made on the basis of this record. Officials say that the system of digital records and verification will help in curbing the alleged manipulation and misuse through Pink Saheli Smart Card.
