Cylinder booking of about 1.30 lakh domestic gas consumers who have not done e-KYC in Saharanpur has been banned. The trouble started from October 1, after the deadline of September 30. Subsidy may also be affected if e-KYC is pending.
Saharanpur: Cylinder booking of about 1.30 lakh domestic gas consumers who have not done e-KYC in the district has been stopped. After the expiry of the deadline of 30th September, such consumers have started facing problems in booking gas cylinders from 1st October. Till the completion of e-KYC, regular gas supply may remain affected and subsidy benefits may also be stopped.
About eight lakh domestic gas consumers in the district
The number of domestic gas consumers in Saharanpur district is around eight lakh. These consumers get the facility of domestic gas cylinders through a total of 57 agencies of Indane, HP and Bharat Gas.
Of these, e-KYC verification of about 1.30 lakh consumers has not been completed yet. After the expiry of the stipulated deadline, oil companies have started the process of banning gas booking of such consumers.
Gas agencies associated with Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have been instructed to complete the pending e-KYC soon. The companies' emphasis is on completing the verification of those consumers whose information has not yet been updated as per the prescribed procedure.
Difficulty in booking due to lack of e-KYC
The deadline to complete e-KYC was set for September 30. After this, from October 1, consumers whose verification is pending are facing difficulty in booking domestic gas cylinders.
Till completion of e-KYC, such consumers will not be able to get regular supply of domestic gas cylinders. Therefore, consumers are being made aware to complete the pending verification soon.
District Supply Officer Neeraj Singh said that gas agencies are continuously making consumers aware to complete the pending e-KYC soon.
E-KYC can be done even sitting at home
It is a matter of relief for consumers that there is no need to go to the gas agency office every time to get e-KYC done. Consumers can also complete e-KYC themselves as per the prescribed procedure.
Consumers who are not able to complete the process themselves can also get their verification done by visiting the concerned gas agency. Gas agencies have been instructed to settle the pending cases quickly.
Subsidy may also be affected
The impact of pending e-KYC is not limited to gas cylinder booking only. Subsidy of such consumers may also be affected.
If subsidy benefits are not available then consumers may have to pay higher prices for gas cylinders. In such a situation, about 1.30 lakh consumers whose e-KYC is still pending are being advised to complete the verification as soon as possible.
