Her wealth exceeded that of Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of low-cost airline Vietjet, who was worth $4 billion, down 1.8%.
The rebound of Vingroup stock has benefited Huong and other shareholders. In the last three sessions it has risen 5.5%.
Vuong, Vingroup chairman, also enjoyed a 3.8% wealth boost to $36.2 billion. Huong’s sister, also a Vingroup deputy chairwoman, saw her fortune added 4% to $2.9 billion, ranking fourth in Vietnam.
Other Vietnamese billionaires remained steady in wealth. Tran Dinh Long, chairman of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group, ranked fifth in wealth at $2.3 billion.
He was followed by Ho Hung Anh, chairman private lender Techcombank, with $2.2 billion in net worth.
VPBank chairman Ngo Chi Dung ranked seventh ($1.2 billion), while food producer and retailer Masan Group chairman Nguyen Dang Quang rounded up the list ($1 billion).
Together, Vietnam’s eight billionaires owned $53.9 billion in fortune, with Vuong’s family accounting for 80% of total.
