UP Rajya Sabha elections: BJP won 8 seats and SP won unopposed on 2 seats.

In the Rajya Sabha elections of Uttar Pradesh, eight candidates of BJP and two candidates of Samajwadi Party have won unopposed. BJP candidates Dharampal Singh, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Radhakant Ojha, Prakash Pal, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Gopikrishna Pandey, Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan and Shruti Gangwar have received the victory certificate.

 

Professor Ram Gopal Yadav and Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani from Samajwadi Party won. However, Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani has not yet obtained his certificate. All the remaining candidates have collected their election certificates. Election officer Ajit Verma announced the results on Friday.

There was no need to vote

Voting for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh was to be held on October 16. Friday was the last date for withdrawal of nominations. No candidate has withdrawn his name and there is no possibility of election as there are not more than 10 candidates. Two independents had definitely filed their nominations, but their papers were canceled when they were found not to be correct during scrutiny.

Strategy of manipulation remained limited to rhetoric

Before nomination, SP had indicated that it may field a third candidate. The party had also claimed that ruling party MLAs are in touch with it. BJP had also increased the political stir by purchasing the 9th nomination papers, but did not field any candidate. After the completion of withdrawal of nominations on Friday, the Election Commission declared eight candidates of BJP and two candidates of SP as winners unopposed.

Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani expressed happiness over winning the election unopposed and expressed gratitude to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. He wrote on his My heartfelt gratitude to all the senior leadership of the party and the honorable MLAs, who expressed unwavering faith in me.
