New Delhi : The weather has taken a sudden turn with hail and snowfall in the hilly and plain parts of North India, while the states of East and South India have experienced heavy rains. Heavy rains have been recorded in Bihar in the last 24 hours, with 12 to 20 centimeters of rain in many parts causing damage to crops. Gusty winds have also started blowing in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and northwest Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Meteorological Department, this change in weather is due to the influence of westerly winds and atmospheric changes. On Saturday afternoon, Ujh Valley including Manali in Himachal Pradesh received rain. High peaks like Rohtang, Kunzum Pass, Baralach and Shinkula received snowfall. It also snowed on Friday night. Rain and snowfall brought down the temperature, with the tribal area of Kukumseri dropping to 1.9 degrees Celsius.

Bad weather is forecast in the state till October 16. During this period, there is a chance of snowfall in the highlands and rain in the plains and mid-mountain areas. A yellow alert has been issued for rain with thundershowers at some places on October 13 and 14.
Snowfall at Adi Kailash
Adi Kailas, located at an altitude of 14,500 feet in Uttarakhand's Pithorgarh district, received snowfall on Saturday. Due to the snowfall, Mount Kailash could not be seen, so the devotees had to return disappointed. After the weather cleared in the afternoon, more than 100 devotees visited Adi Kailas. Three to four feet of snow has accumulated in Adi Kailas area. Due to continuous snowfall, the temperature in Adi Kailas has dropped to minus two to minus three degrees, creating severe cold.
The Kedarnath Yatra halted for three hours
Pilgrim traffic was halted from 6 am to 9 am on Saturday due to debris and cracks at Chirbasa on the Kedarnath trekking route in Rudraprayag. For security reasons, the pilgrims were stopped at Gaurikund and Sonprayag. Traffic resumed after the road reopened at 9 am. Debris blocked the footpath in Chirbasa following heavy rains the previous night.
