The upcoming series is directed by Hansal Mehta and written by Kashyap Kapoor and Raghav Raj Kakker. Prabhleen Sandhu is producing the project under the banner of Almighty Motion Pictures Productions. Set in a small, relatively unknown town on the verge of becoming the continent's heroin capital, the story centers on an incorruptible police officer played by Sunny Kaushal. As he confronts powerful forces both within and outside the system, the officer faces the challenge of protecting his integrity and humanity in an increasingly hostile environment.

With its crime-driven premise and a story involving the drug trade, corruption and institutional power, the series explores the personal and professional battles of a police officer caught in a dangerous struggle. The makers have not yet disclosed further details about Bipasha Basu's role or the series' release schedule.

Why Bipasha Basu Stepped Away From Films

Bipasha Basu was last seen in a full-fledged theatrical release in the 2015 horror film Alone, directed by Bhushan Patel. She portrayed twin sisters Sanjana and Anjana in the film, which also starred Karan Singh Grover. The actress married Karan in April 2016. The couple subsequently appeared together in the crime thriller web series Dangerous, which marked another screen outing for the two.

In November 2022, Bipasha and Karan welcomed their daughter, Devi. Since becoming a mother, Bipasha has largely stayed away from acting projects, focusing on her family and motherhood. Her return to filming has therefore generated interest among fans eager to see her back on screen.

Hansal Mehta Continues His Work in the Streaming Space

The untitled series adds to Hansal Mehta's slate of projects for digital platforms. Planned across three seasons, the series traces the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Its first season covers the period from 1888 to 1915, following Gandhi's journey from colonial India to London, where he studied law and later to South Africa, where he spent 23 transformative years. Filming for the first season was completed in August 2024.
