The opposition's fight reached the Supreme Court… Writ petition filed against the Election Commission in the name of Rahul Gandhi, know the main demands…

The ‘India’ alliance has opened a legal front against the Special Intensive Revision of Voters List (SIR) controversy and the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). On Monday, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed on the official website of the Supreme Court in the name of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi is the main petitioner in this petition, while along with him are prominent faces of the opposition—Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Raut, D. Raja, M.A. Several top leaders including Baby and Saugata Roy have been made co-petitioners.

Let us tell you, the Central Election Commission has been made the main party in the petition. The opposition leaders, through their petition, have raised questions on the fairness of the SIR process being run by the Election Commission and requested to stop it with immediate effect and review the alleged rigging/irregularities in the voter lists. Along with this, strong questions have been raised in the petition regarding the functioning and autonomy of the Election Commission.

After the filing of the petition in the Supreme Court, the stir in the political circles of the country has intensified. After the protest march taken out by the opposition in Delhi and the filing of the petition, now all eyes are on the registry and bench of the Supreme Court to see when this ultra-sensitive case is listed for hearing.
